Oren David Joel Rhodes Obituary (1940

Oren David Joel Rhodes, age 77, of Hatfield, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home. He was born on Monday, November 11, 1940 to Hayden Samuel Monroe and Myrtle Lee Lambert Rhodes in Vandervoort, Arkansas. Oren was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army; a deacon for the Hatfield Freewill Baptist Church for 40 years where he was also the song leader there for much of that time. He loved singing for the Lord, and loved his church family tremendously. Oren was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a great friend, who will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Nichols Rhodes; three brothers, Arvel Rhodes, Nathaniel Rhodes and Samuel Hayden Rhodes and one sister, Isabelle McClinton. Oren is survived by his son and daughter in law, Michael and Dona Rhodes of Hatfield; two daughters and son in law, Rhonda and Terry Martin of Hatfield and Heather Schmidt of Hatfield; his sister, Delie Forrest of Mena; seven grandchildren- Sylvia Martin Yates, Lydia Rhodes, Audrey "Liz" Martin, Nathan Rhodes, Zebera Schmidt, Zenia Schmidt and Shosanna Hobbs; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Hatfield Freewill Baptist Church in Hatfield with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in the Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Friday, February 16, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel.
