Joseph Lex McGough Obituary (1930 - 2019)

Joseph "Lex" McGough, 89, of Haworth, went to be with his Lord December 31, 2019 at Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, TX. Lex was born February 25, 1930 in Goodwater, to Sidney and Mary Frances (Seagraves) McGough.Lex was affiliated with the Shinewell Community Church for 19 years and had been a faithful member at the Assembly of God Church in Haworth. He had lived in McCurtain County most of his life. Lex enjoyed horseback riding, trading, being outdoors, and watching nature. He was known as a good storyteller. Lex loved his Lord, enjoyed gospel singings, and visiting with friends and neighbors.Lex married the love of his life, Sue Carrol Johnson, on March 2, 1949 in DeQueen, AR. They enjoyed sightseeing, traveling, spending time with their family, especially their kids and grandchildren.Lex was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Mary McGough; brothers, Eugene, Nathan, and Clifford (Fat) McGough; sisters, Mary Simpson, Ellen Slabaugh, Ethel Farley, Alice Talley, and Winifred (Tip) Garrison; and one grandson, Samuel Brewer.Lex is survived by his loving wife, Sue (Johnson) McGough, of the home; sister, Lucille Pogue, of Goodwater; four daughters, Marian Miller and Junior, of Union Grove, Carolyn and Everett Wilkerson, of Goodwater, Sharon and Ted Brewer, of Ada, Jan and Charlie Hill, of Hochatown; two sons, Patrick and wife, Cynthia, of Edmond, and Gary and wife, Farisa, of Duncanville, TX; eleven grandchildren, Krystal (Miller) Weeks, Ben Miller, Zack Miller, Clint Wilkerson, Cassie (Wilkerson) Edmondson, Laura (Brewer) James, Ashley (Bean) Frazier, Breck McGough, Keely McGough, and step-grandchildren, Caleb Powell and Raemee Powell; ten great-grandchildren, Ryan Weeks, Sarah Weeks, Lex Miller, Conner Daniel, Gavin Daniel, Hunter Wilkerson, Jocelyn James, Clayton James, Ashdyn Frazier, and Addison Frazier; along with a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends, including special friends, Normie and Beverly Ebert and Drew Edmondson.A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:00AM, at the Assembly of God Church in Haworth with Ministers Gary Davidson and Mark Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Pauley Cemetery, Winthrop, AR.
