Johnnie Young Jr. Obituary (1935 - 2020)

Mr. Johnnie Young Jr. was born on December 17, 1935 in Idabel, OK to Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie and Opal Young Sr. He passed from this life on May 4, 2020 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 84. Johnnie spent most of his life in McCurtain County until spending the last few years of his life in Shreveport, LA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and he was affiliated with the Holly Creek Community Church. His family fondly remembers him as a funny man with a big personality who was more concerned about giving to others than he was about getting for himself. He was a hard worker with an "old-fashioned" work ethic. When his health permitted, he loved being outdoors, going fishing and riding horses. He also enjoyed western movies. However, what mattered most to him was his family--especially his grandchildren, and he loved them more than life itself. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (Coleman) Young; his parents, Johnnie & Opal Young Sr.; and several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory are sons, Johnny D. Young of Louisiana & Ronny J. Young of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Belinda Young of Broken Bow, OK, Sheri Miller of Tacoma, Washington & Kari Keola of Tacoma, Washington; brothers, Roy Young (wife, Mary) of Ringgold, LA, Billy D. Young of Blanchard, LA, Jacky Young (wife, Tammy) of Keithville, LA, & Keith Young of Blanchard, LA; sister, Brenda Everett (husband, Richard) of Stonewall, LA, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces & other relatives. Johnnie will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Holly Creek Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK. Graveside services are under the direction of Brumley Funeral Home of Broken Bow, OK.
