James Thompson 84, of Eagletown passed away Monday, April 30, 2012, at Wadley Hospital, Texarkana, TX. He was born December 28, 1927 in Yanush, OK, the son of James Perry Thompson and Myrtle Mae (Mangrum) Thompson. James served his country in the United States Marines. He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Masters Degree in counseling. James was as member of Sigma Tau Gamma and Alpha Psi Omega, President of the Hell hounds a pep organization that promotes pride in athletic events, a lifetime member of the century club and Alumni Association and Supporter; a member of the Letterman Club of S.O.S.U. in Durant. The Oklahoma Legislature extended their congratulations to James for his many accomplishments and the pride that he brought to the Pocola School District where he taught for 33 years and the rest of the state. He was also a lifetime member of the OEA and NEA. He was preceded in death by his father, James Perry Thompson, mother, Myrtle Mangrum Thompson, six sisters, Irene Thompson Leonard, Christine Thompson Wylie, Justine Thompson Baldwin, Pauline Thompson Hosey, Barbara Thompson Johnson, Loraine Thompson Strickland; two nephews, Rodney Leonard and Allen Carlyle. James leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Jean Thompson Ewy of Annacortes, WA and a host of other relatives and friends.
