Altha Ruby Chamberlain Obituary (1949

Altha Ruby Chamberlain, age 64, of Opal, Arkansas died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at her home. She was born on Friday, February 4, 1949 to William Perry and Dorothy Lee Campbell Looney in Board Camp, Arkansas. Altha was described as a friend to everyone and was always there in their time of need. Her family was so important to her and gave her greatest treasure. She worked for many in the medical field and also worked CDI Headstart in Mena for many years. Altha went back to college in her 40s and received her Associates Degree. She was so proud to have achieved this goal in her life. Some of her hobbies included fishing and cooking. She loved to live out in the country. She was a member of the Midway Freewill Baptist Church near Opal. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mildred Frances Looney. Altha is survived by her husband, Lester Chamberlain of Opal; two sons, Jody Rogers of Eagleton, Arkansas and Mike Rogers of DeQueen, Arkansas; one step daughter, Talea Spencer of Springhill, Arkansas; four brothers, Alton Looney of Mena, Pete Looney of Mena, Allan Looney of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Alford Looney of Hatfield, Arkansas; one sister, Almeda Henderson of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lower Big Fork Cemetery with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. There will be no visitation. Services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Pallbearers will be James Looney, Anthony Brannon, Ray Ezell, Clint Ezell, Jerry Ray Goodnight, and Terry Paul Chamberlain.
