Kenneth Grenz

Kenneth P. Grenz, age 87, of Mena, Arkansas died Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Mena. He was born on Thursday, October 13, 1932 to Paul and Edna Pauline Gaede Grenz in Hitchcock, Oklahoma.

He grew up working with his papa in their automotive shop in St. Helena, CA. After graduating from PUC Prep, he worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a welder. Kenneth served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a medic and was Honorably Discharged. He was a person that served God and his fellow man with all his heart. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mena where he served as an Elder, as a Deacon, and as a Sabbath School teacher. Kenneth was a member of the Ouachita Amateur Radio Club, American Radio Relay League. He enjoyed participating in the annual Hamfest on Rich Mountain. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Kenneth was an electrical engineer and enjoyed woodworking, Amateur radios and gardening. He continued to repair vehicles and worked to remodel his daughter’s home until briefly before his death. He spent much time volunteering as electrician and builder at Holbrook Indian School and went on a Maranatha mission trip to help build a church in Indonesia. Kenneth married Ruth Arlene Saulsbury, and they raised one son, Lloyd, and two daughters, Klinda and Alice. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and a great friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, three wives, and his son, Lloyd Russell Grenz.

He is survived by two sisters, Edna June (Mel) Ferguson of Angwin, CA and Geraldine Rose Louise (Tom) Dunbar of Alturas, CA; one brother, Robert Eugene Grenz of Pullman, WA; two daughters, Klinda (Emil) Rath and Alice Marie Grenz; three grandsons, Emil Rath II of Mississippi, Kenneth Paul Rath of Baltimore, MD, and Darrell Wayne (Haidy) Spooner of Virginia; one granddaughter, Trista Nichelle Spooner of Texas; two great-grandsons, Ashlar Tristan Rath and Ziemon Brozula Spooner; and four great-granddaughters, Mikayla Taylor Rath, Kailyn Page Rath, Emmaline Rose Marie Rath, Daisy Brozula Spooner, several cousins, nieces, and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with arrangements entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
